Updates!

Hiii! How's everybody doing?
I'm glad to say that Paper Props here is working out well. We've had our first customer (<3 Mitchell) and will have pictures of his order up very soon!

Right now we have a lot of things in development, things we really hope that you guys will appreciate. On their way are pre-made hand props, a tutorial on how to make paper mache, a tutorial on how to properly store your prop, and a guide for navigating our page.

Another new -something- we have going on are our plans for next years Metrocon. As it turns out, the entire reason Blu and I created this shop together was to be able to have a booth at Metrocon 2010. And you can't have a booth unless people know who you are! (Well, you can, but your success rate will be a lot lower than if you're well known.) And thus we aspired to pull this store together NOW. Our plans now include, as our past poll showed, a Prop Hospital and Cosplay Nurse. Our darling friend, ~AvinaStar wishes to start her own lolita line called Pearlescent Dreams. We were thinking that we could split a booth, half of it dedicated to her accessories and her costume fixing (Cosplay Nurse <3) and half of it dedicated to us. While she went around offereing to repair costumes (for a small fee), she would also be letting people know about US. Excuse my language but as we all know, shit happens. Especially at conventions. And we don't want that to ruin the costume you put so much time and effort into! So while she can repair your costume, we can repair your prop! It doesn't have to be made by us, or anything fancy like that, but while we will have a booth featuring a few already made weapons and handprops, we will also be there ready and waiting to help you.
What do you think? Do you like this idea? Tell us!

And finally, I just wanted to post a reminder that while we will take orders and read them during the school year, the time that we can actually spend working on them is dwindling away. We're down to our last week! Next Monday marks the beginning of our senior year, so if you need a prop, you need to make sure you let us know ASAP.

Spazz out. <33

Introduction

Hello everybody! Welcome to our shop, Paper Props. This is the place you were looking for- the place where you can get props of all kinds; we make weapons, masks, decorations. What occasions would you use these things at? Think costumes (Halloween, conventions, etc.), parties, or masquerade balls.

What do you mean by prop? A prop is basically anything extra you could use in your costume. It can be anything from a weapon, a piece of armor, a decoration... It can also be decorations at a party. Imagine creepy critters hanging from your ceiling, we can make them for you. ;]

Why would I want a "paper prop"? Really there are a lot of reasons, but I'll only cover a few of them. Those of you who have attended any conventions, have probably learned about the strict regulations on weapons and props. For example, Metrocon doesn't allow any prop with metal in it. You can trust in us to make you a realistic weapon without the difficulties placed by safety restrictions.

Are all of the props you make made completely out of paper mache? What the prop is made out of mostly depends on the shape, size, fine details, and things like that; materials will vary. We have chosen the name "Paper Props" because the majority of props we've already made are largely made of paper mache. Not to mention, its such a catchy name!

Work Schedule

Sadly, we are currently working on a very limited schedule. Seeing as Blu and I are both seniors in high school, we have a lot to focus on this year BESIDES this business. But we'll do the best we can!
Open Dates
Now -> August 22
November 25 - 29
December 20 - January 2
March 26 - April 3
June 12 ->

Also, weekends will be open from time to time. But, this is something you'll have to ask us about, because weekends are not something to depend upon. There are too many other things that could happen during a weekend.

Base Prices*

*Base price does not include supplies.

Weapon/Prop
Small (up to 2 ft): $15
    Medium (2-4 ft.): $25
Large (5 ft. and up): $30+

Hats
    Headband (with ears/accessories): $10
    Crown: $15
    Full: $18

Masks
    Half: $20
    Full: $30
    Helmet: $40

Armour
    Per piece: $15

Complexity Prices
Complexity Prices are added onto the base price when your prop contains one or more of the things listed. These are here because some things are just plain HARD to put together. The detail and time put towards it means that we're working a lot harder than if the prop hadn't had them. We're still deciding on how to price this, because its hard to price something solely on difficulty without seeming like we're trying to rip you off. ^^; I swear we're not.
    Feathers: $15

Supplies, Payments, and Shipping

Supplies
While we strive to give you the best product you can get, we also like to keep your budget in mind. So there are two methods you can choose from for getting the supplies for your prop. Before a prop is made, we will window shop for everything that is needed. Then, we get back to you with a detailed list of what is needed, and its price (tax is included on the end). Armed with this, you can choose to either use our Moolah option, where you provide the money and we buy the supplies, or Buy'n'Send, where you buy the supplies yourself and give them to us. When placing your order, you will need to know which option you want to go with.

Payments
As a new business, we are currently accepting only two forms of payment: Cash or Money Order
Receipts will be provided! Hopefully, Paypal will soon be another option available for you. :]

Shipping
Shipping fees will be your responsibility. We will accept them any time during our transaction, and they are required to pay ahead of time. If you do not provide the money for shipping, we will not ship your prop to you. Also, until further notice, we are only shipping items that fit in the Small category. Anything else, you will need to come pick up from us in person. We apologize for the inconvenience, and would be glad to meet you at a predetermined location.

TL;DR?
Supply Options

Moolah You provide the money, we buy the supplies.
Buy'n'Send You buy the supplies, then send them to us.

Payment Options*
*Receipts will be provided.
Cash or Money Order

Shipping
Only Small items can currently be shipped to you

Ordering Your Prop

Finally, the information you all have been waiting for: How to order your very own custom prop!
Well, there are many steps in this procedure, but it all starts with you filling out the Order Form and emailing the filled out copy to us. (Please send to PaperProps@live.com) On the Order Form the required information is already filled out in blue; these are just examples of what we're looking for. If you have any questions, feel free to email or note us. Once you have done this, the procedure should continues something like this:
  1. We discuss details and price modifications.

  2. We window shop for supplies and send you the list of supplies and prices.

  3. You proceed with whichever option you chose to use for providing supplies (Moolah or Buy'n'Send).

  4. We make your prop, posting pictures of the process while we do it.

  5. Once finished to everybody's satisfaction, you put through you're payment.

  6. You pick up your prop or we send it to you!

Now both starting their senior year in high school this coming fall, Blu and Spazz both lead lives of daily chaos. Blu is always scrambling between teching (and whatever else the theatre needs help with) jobs at MSA, and always manages despite a complete lack of help from the home front. Spazz is constantly on the run between high school, internet school, part time job(s), and Tae Kwon Do.

But despite all that wonderful business, these two find their love for all convention-related things winning out. After years of making her own (highly praised and complimented) props, Blu found herself succeptive to Spazz's suggestion of pairing up to make a prop shop.

And so, here they are. :D
